Water (2019)

Water was a live performance and reading performed at We Spoke: a durational reading event organized by Meital Yaniv and hosted by The Feminist Center For Creative Work in Los Angeles CA. In the performance, Yoli reads a piece written for Water and Yoli’s forgotten ancestors. They submerge the writing in water along with their clothes. The submergence is a gesture toward cleaning, rites of cleansing, and the historically feminine act of washing clothes; also symbolizing Yoli’s corporal submergence and surrender to the text- that is poem, prayer, and flor y canto.

This is an audio recording of the written piece for Water.
