The Third Sister is an aluminum casting of a carved pumpkin inspired by recipes in Decolonize Your Diet by Catrióna Rueda Esquibel and Luz Calvo. Third Sister translates taste into form and speaks about the bridges between our bodies as interspecies family members. It explores how we remember each other, squash relatives and re-indigenizing beings of Mexico, through the memories, recipes, and living traditions that even through time and borders remain sentient.
